STOP TAKING WHAT"S OUR

Water Works was built in the Black Community because our 4 swimming pools were demolished by the City of Winston Salem. Black People have always had swim meets and were winners in this city. This City tore everything down that bonded the Black family. Since the opening of our own #SwimmingPool, the PoC families have complained that white people have taken over our recreational area in many aspects. I had to go take pictures the second year to prove that white lifeguards were enjoying our swimming pool with their family members while Black & Brown people were standing in line outside the pool with beads of sweat rolling down their faces- (I'm emotional right now as I write this) Please know that we welcome you but we have not had the opportunity to reintroduce our families to swimming again and we know our history that we could never use your pools safely. Please #CityofWinstonSalem provide us with Black & Brown Lifeguards. Asking Black & Brown Families to introduce your families to swimming again. Go & enjoy #WaterWorks Now that the Winston Lake Master Plans have been funded whites want to come and take over our Recreational facilities that were torn down in the '70s.
